Walk 1 Mile at Home by Nourish Move Love

You may try to fit in a long outdoor walk every day, but sometimes it’s just not an option. Your schedule is crazy or the weather isn’t cooperating—or both. Fortunately, YouTube is loaded with indoor walking videos that you can do at home in a relatively small space, in however much time you’ve got. And if you’ve got just 15 minutes, you can try the Walk 1 Mile at Home workout from Nourish Move Love.

This video is simple and uncluttered and professional—just an instructor and her backup walker (in matching outfits!) against a relatively plain backdrop. There is just a basic countdown clock and a bar that shows you how far you’ve made it through the workout. The music is quiet and simple, which can be frustrating if (like me) you like to use the music to keep in step. But the steps are quick, with no repetition—and it makes for a shorter but intense walking workout.

If you like talkative, high-energy instructors, though, this one is for you. I don’t think she ever stops talking throughout the workout—even if it means just repeating things like “GO BIG.” She’s definitely an intense instructor—and she pushes viewers to go harder and bigger and push through the 15 minutes. But while that can be a little intimidating—and you might feel like you’re being yelled at—it’s still effective. The workout gave me just over a mile during the 15-minute workout. But her intensity often makes things feel a little…spastic. She’ll be showing the next move while you’re supposed to keep walking in place. And sometimes she’ll get into a move that makes even her upbeat, good-natured backup walker think, Nope, I can’t do that, and do her own thing instead.

While the vibe of this walk-at-home video felt more intimidating than encouraging to me, the workout does what it promises. It’s a short, intense workout that will give you 2,000 steps in 15 minutes. If you’re looking for an instructor that will fire you up and get your heart pumping, this one might be a good choice for you.

Pros:
– Shorter workout
– No repetition
– Fast-moving
– Intense workout
– Simple countdown clock

Cons:
– Music is quiet and somewhat difficult to follow
– Instructor is intense and a little over-the-top
– A couple of moves are complicated enough that even her backup gives up
