Question of the Day: Plan It or Wing It?

Throughout our Summer of Simple Walking series, we’ve talked about the challenges of keeping up a walking routine during the summer, thanks to vacations and camps and constant schedule changes and general disruptions. Sometimes, the best way to combat that is to schedule your walking time – to make it a planned part of your day. But, of course, that’s easier said than done.
No matter what the time of year, I try to schedule most of my walks. My morning walks are part of my daily routine. My Thursday walk-and-talk with my brother is at the same time every week. During the summer, my daughter and I walk after breakfast (which, admittedly, depends on when she wakes up). But sometimes we’re away from home…or my daughter has an extra volleyball session…or something else changes.
So, for me, that means that planning is my default. Winging it is my Plan B.
What about you? Are you a planner or a winger?
