Question of the Day: Howdy, Walker!

When I’m on the trail, I am always so fascinated by how people greet each other (or don’t) when they pass along the way. You’ve got the side-eye people who clearly know you’re there but don’t want to acknowledge you. You’ve got the people who stare straight ahead and refuse to accept that there’s someone else on the trail. There are nodders and wavers and grinners – and then there are the people who actually smile and greet their fellow walkers.
Personally, I am an energy matcher. If I pass you on the trail, I will absolutely look your way. Then I will read your energy. I’ll always smile. Sometimes I’ll add a wave. And if you’re friendly (or if I see you almost every single day), I will say, “Morning!” Sometimes, if I’m out for a rare afternoon walk, I will also accidentally say, “Morning!”
What about you? How do you greet your fellow walkers?
