Gear Review: CVG Leggings

It’s hard to believe that there was a time—not too long ago, even—when I couldn’t imagine leaving the house in leggings. Now, if I put on jeans, my daughter asks me why I’m all dressed up.  I have stacks and stacks of leggings now: a lot of black ones, some fleece ones, and pretty much one of every color and print that Old Navy has ever made in their PowerSoft pocket leggings. But when I saw Constantly Varied Gear’s bright, colorful leggings, I knew I needed them.

CVG has a loyal following of activewear-loving customers. Though the company makes a variety of products, from hoodies to tanks to dresses, they’re best known for their vibrant patterned leggings and matching bras. They’re bright and fun and often delightfully edgy—with the kind of patterns that you won’t find anywhere else. And they all come with pockets, which is a must for me.

From the moment I opened my first pair of CVG leggings, I could feel the difference. They’re incredibly soft, and they feel thicker than the average leggings. I could feel the compression—but not in a way that felt tight and uncomfortable; they just felt like they held everything in, stayed in place, and smoothed everything out. I felt like I could happily live in these leggings forever.

If you just like plain leggings, there are a number of colors to choose from—in both full length and capri. But if you’re a little more adventurous, you will find so many fun designs, ranging from the playful (tie dyes and plaids and animal prints) to the edgy (skulls and aliens and voodoo dolls). And with regular new releases of small-batch styles, you may find yourself neeeeeding to buy new ones before your favorite new pattern sells out. But they don’t come at bargain-basement prices. Though you can often find styles on sale, the regular price is $59.99. They’re still cheaper than high-end brands—but quite a bit more than my beloved PowerSofts.

It took just one pair of these super-cool, ultra-comfy leggings to understand why they’ve built such a loyal following. They’re perfect for grocery runs or race day. And no matter where you wear them, you’ll look incredibly cool and get a whole lot of compliments, too.

Pros:
– Comfortable compression
– So many fun prints (but a variety of solids, too, if that’s more your style)
– High quality fabric—you can feel the difference
– Pockets!
– Inclusive sizing
– Squat-proof, heavy-duty, stay put fit

Cons:
– Inclusive sizing means that you may not need your usual size (I sized down)
– Slightly higher price (though, admittedly, worth it)
– Exclusive prints sell out fast—sometimes in minutes
