Question of the Day: These Shoes Are Special

Before I started a regular walking routine, shoes were shoes. If I went for a neighborhood stroll with my husband, I just put on the same shoes I’d wear to get groceries…or for a day at the park with my kid. Now, however, I have shoes for everyday, and I have shoes for walking. They are not the same.

I remember a while back, when another volleyball mom and I decided to go for a walk during practice. I said, “I’m going to grab my shoes from the car,” and she looked at me like I’d lost my mind. I was wearing my go-to pair of black Under Armour cross-trainers. Wasn’t that good enough? Clearly not. While my UA shoes are perfectly fine for a grocery run, if I’m going to go for an actual walk, I want something that’s cushioned and comfy for walking.

What about you? Do you wear the same shoes for walking as you do for errands, or do you keep your walking shoes separate?
