If you’ve got long hair like I do, there’s a pretty good chance that you have a favorite type of hair ties (or elastics or ponytail holders…or whatever you call them). When you hit the trail, you want something that will keep your hair out of your face without pinching or slipping or somehow failing you mid-walk. Also if you’re like me, you rarely leave home without a hair tie in your bag or on your wrist or somewhere else that’s handy—because you just never know when you’ll need one.

I’ve always been pretty specific about the kind of hair ties that work for my hair. They aren’t pretty, but they’re heavy-duty and reliable. So when I first saw K’lani hair tie bracelets, I figured they’d probably be okay for days when I’m not speed-walking on the trail—or even just as a backup on my wrist. But every other pretty hair tie I’ve ever owned has stretched after the first use or failed to control my notoriously unruly hair.

And K’lani hair ties are really pretty. They look like some kind of fancy surfer jewelry—different colors and textures and sizes with beads and medallions and other decorations. And, for that reason, I was almost afraid to put them in my hair—because they looked pretty on my wrist, and I didn’t want to use them and get them all stretched out. But I decided that it was finally time to try one out. I chose one of the thicker ties—because my hair usually needs something heavy. Not only did it hold my hair in place all day, but it also wasn’t stretched out when I took it out after hours of wear. After my first couple of successes, I figured I’d try one of the thinner, more decorative ties—and I was surprised to find that that one held surprisingly well, too. And, once again, it didn’t stretch.

As it turns out, K’lani hair tie bracelets aren’t just pretty. While they’re stylish and colorful, and they look great on your wrist, they’re wonderfully functional, too. They’re perfectly capable of containing your hair on your next half-marathon or during a trip to the store—and they look cute while doing it.

Pros:
– Come in a variety of styles and coordinating colors all in one package
– Actually hold your hair without slipping
– Don’t stretch out after the first use or two
– Look really cute as jewelry, too

Cons:
– You might need to be careful with some of the cute medallions—because they might get stuck in your hair
– They’re pricey—but the cheaper ones I’ve tried always stretch out

You can find K’lani hair tie bracelets in a variety of color combinations on Amazon.
