Hydration Review: PurAqua Electrolyte Drink Mix

When it comes to hydration mixes, the PurAqua Electrolyte Drink Mix is my own personal OG. When I first saw it on a shopping trip to Aldi, it instantly became my electrolyte go-to, thanks to its mix of flavor and affordability. When it started disappearing off the shelves, I was heartbroken. If I ever visited a store where they were still available, I’d grab multiple boxes.

Of course, since then, I’ve learned to love the replacement PurAqua Hydration with Electrolytes—which, while slightly pricier, is still a great option. But I was still thrilled this summer to see my old favorite back on the shelves—so I immediately grabbed a few boxes, just in case they were only available for a short time (because you just never know with Aldi).

PurAqua’s original hydration mix is like Hydration Lite. It isn’t as packed with the vitamins and nutrients that you might find in other mixes, but it also doesn’t come with the same price tag. It’s also calorie-free without the dreaded calorie-free aftertaste. I’ve tried all of the regular flavors, and they’re all fruity and refreshing without feeling artificial—and I also appreciate that Aldi pays close attention to their ingredients, so you won’t find things like artificial colors here.

Admittedly, if you’re out for a long walk in the hot sun, you might need more than this basic mix to help you replenish your electrolytes. This mix isn’t necessarily for hard-core hydration. But if you just want a little hydration boost after a walk (or you need a little extra flavor to motivate you to drink more water), this Hydration Lite mix will help you stay hydrated on hot summer days.
