There’s something about February that just gives us all that warm, fuzzy feeling. Maybe it’s because we finally made it through January, which is approximately 8,529 days long, and we’re finally starting to see the sun again. Sometimes.

Of course, February is also the month in which we celebrate Valentine’s Day—a day of hearts and flowers and romantic dinners and simply celebrating those you love.

In honor of this month of love, I’ve got a playlist full of songs about love—songs that will give you that warm, fuzzy feeling while you get all hot and sweaty on your next walk.

A little more about the playlist:

I’ve included a number of different ways to listen.  I’ve got YouTube videos posted below.  If you want to download the MP3, I’ve also got links to find them on Amazon.  Or you can listen to the whole thing by playing the Spotify playlist.

For each song in this playlist, I’ve listed the beats per minute, the pace (in minutes per mile) that you’ll be walking if you’re walking to the beat, and the number of steps that you’ll take during the song if you keep up that pace.  We’ll start with an easy pace and work our way up, finishing with a cool-down.  The songs here eventually build up to a pretty brisk pace, but take it at a pace that works for you—whether that means moving faster or slower.  You’re totally allowed to dance and sing your way through this playlist, too (in fact, it’s almost guaranteed).  If you follow the pace of each song, you’ll be over 5,000 steps (or around 2.5 miles) by the time you reach the end. If you’re looking for more steps, feel free to play it again—or move on to another one of my playlists. You can find them all on the Playlists page.

1) “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police

Okay, so the first song on our playlist isn’t about a loving, two-sided relationship. More like a serious crush. And, when you think about it and pair this song with “Every Breath You Take,” it might make you wonder how The Police were never slapped with a restraining order (or at least not that I know of…). But there’s something about this song that reminds me of those all-encompassing crushes of my teen years, and that makes it a sweet, easy-going song to start our Valentine’s stroll.

2) “Levitating” – Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is one of those artists whose songs always make me want to get up and get moving—and this is one of my favorites. The beat may not be fast, but it might have you dancing your way through your walk before it’s over.

3) “Addicted to Love” – Robert Palmer

Though I definitely don’t miss the dating scene, I sometimes miss that feeling of falling.

“You can’t sleep, no, you can’t eat
There’s no doubt, you’re in deep”

And this ‘80s classic (complete with classic video) always takes me back to that time.

4) “Love You Like a Love Song” – Selena Gomez & The Scene

Love songs tend to idealize relationships. So what about a love song about love songs? If you think about it too much, it might make your head spin—so I recommend just turning up the volume while you pick up the pace on your walk.

Chris Martin has been through a whole lot of high-profile romances through the years—and he acknowledges all of the risks and the challenges that falling in love can bring. But that doesn’t keep him from going all in in this jubilant song of new (and hopefully true) love.

10) “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” – The Darkness

With its high-pitched vocals and pumped-up beat, this is the kind of song that you might find yourself belting out on your walk. If you do, I won’t judge. In fact, I’ll happily sing along.
