This week’s review may not be specifically walking-related, but headaches hit us all at some point—whether you’re a regular migraine sufferer or you’re under a whole lot of stress or you’re battling a sinus condition. And when that happens, it’s important to listen to your body (read all about that here) and step away for a while to get some relief. And the TheraIce Headache Relief Cap can help.

The TheraIce Cap is a soft, gel-filled mask that offers 360-degree relief from any kind of headache. It stretches to fit over your head, covering your eyes (to block out light for those who are sensitive) and the sinus area (for extra relief). Depending on your preference, you can choose hot or cold therapy by either storing the cap in your refrigerator or freezer or by popping it in the microwave for less than a minute.

Since I tend to deal with a whole lot of headaches, I was eager to give the cap a try. I’ve tried both cold and hot, but I prefer the heated option. There’s just something incredibly comforting about wrapping your head in a heated, light-blocking cap and lying back to get some much-needed rest.

The TheraIce Cap doesn’t claim to be a miracle worker. It doesn’t promise that it’ll make your headache go away instantly and never come back. But it promises that you’ll feel better when you use it—and it definitely does what it promises. My daughter and I have both used it—for everything from sinus headaches to migraines—and it’s become something that we reach for often (and keep reheating) as we rest and recover from a headache. It offers just the right amount of compression in just the right places without feeling tight or uncomfortable, and the 360-degree, eye-covering style provides the perfect escape from the bright lights and distractions around you. Sure, you can use it without fully covering your eyes—but it makes the whole experience more soothing.

This hot-or-cold headache relief cap may not chase your headache away within minutes, but it does offer plenty of comfort. It will help you alleviate whatever kind of headache pain you may be experiencing—but, even if you don’t have a splitting headache, it could also be a great way to relax and unwind in your own spa-like environment at the end of a stressful day.

– Full 360-degree coverage
– Covers eyes to block out light
– Soft gel-filled fabric stretches to fit comfortably

– May not provide long-term relief
