Everyone seems to have their own favorite electrolyte mix—one with the right mix of hydration benefits and flavor. And as I continue to experiment with different options—and ask people about their favorites—Liquid I.V. is one of the brands that frequently comes up in searches and conversations. It seems to be one of the most common, recognizable brands—and for good reason. You can order Liquid I.V. online or pick some up on your Walmart run—and you can choose from a whole lot of different flavors. It’s popular with athletes and weekend warriors and tired moms. It just seems to be the standard hydration mix.
Since I’ve read some reviews of Liquid I.V. complaining about the high sugar content, I decided to give the sugar-free version a try—in a summery-sounding Raspberry Lemonade—and I was pleasantly surprised. While some electrolyte mixes (especially the lower-sugar ones) taste artificial—and leave an unpleasant aftertaste—that’s not the case here. The flavor is strong without being overpowering, and there’s no chemical taste to it. In fact, this is the kind of drink mix that I could drink every day just because I like the taste. It’s the kind of mix that would make me want to drink more water—and the extra vitamins and electrolytes make for an added bonus.
While the new PurAqua Hydration is similar to this popular hydration brand, I absolutely understand the hype here. For a refreshing, good-tasting drink mix (even in the sugar-free version) that helps replenish your electrolytes after a long walk, Liquid I.V. is definitely a great option. There’s a reason why this brand seems to be the standard.
