June is here! And since we’re having fun this month with all of the colors of the rainbow with our June Color Challenge, what better way to add to the coloriffic fun than with a rainbow playlist?
For this playlist, we’re walking our way through songs that feature different colors in their titles—so while you’re taking part in this month’s colorful walking challenge, you can step to a whole bunch of colorful songs, too!
A little more about the playlist:
I’ve included a number of different ways to listen. I’ve got YouTube videos posted below. If you want to download the MP3, I’ve also got links to find them on Amazon. Or you can listen to the whole thing by playing the Spotify playlist.
For each song in this playlist, I’ve listed the beats per minute, the pace (in minutes per mile) that you’ll be walking if you’re walking to the beat, and the number of steps that you’ll take during the song if you keep up that pace. We’ll start with an easy pace and work our way up, finishing with a cool-down. The songs here eventually build up to a pretty brisk pace, but take it at a pace that works for you—whether that means moving faster or slower. You’re totally allowed to dance and sing your way through this playlist, too (in fact, it’s almost guaranteed). If you follow the pace of each song, you’ll be over 5,500 steps (or around 2.75 miles) by the time you reach the end. If you’re looking for more steps, feel free to play it again—or move on to another one of my playlists. You can find them all on the Playlists page.
1) “That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)” by Panic! At the Disco
And we’re off! We’re easing into our rainbow walk with the color GREEN—and a laid-back track by the not-so-laid-back-sounding Panic! At the Disco.

Beats per Minute: 96
Pace: 20:50
Steps: 312
2) “Counting Blue Cars” – Dishwalla
Up next on our color walk, we’re moving on to BLUE—a color that’s pretty popular in colorful song titles (and that also just happens to be my favorite color)—with a wonderfully moody ‘90s hit that’s sure to bring you back to the good old days of mainstream grunge-lite.
Beats per Minute: 100
Pace: 20:00
Steps: 487
3) “Little Green Bag” – George Baker Selection
Though most of the songs on our color playlist came out within the last…45 years or so, our next GREEN track takes us all the way back to the ‘60s—or, if you’re a Quentin Tarantino fan, all the way back to 1992’s Reservoir Dogs. Either way, it’ll make up you pick up your pace a bit—and maybe strut a little in the process.
Beats per Minute: 103
Pace: 19:25
Steps: 335
4) “Men in Black” – Will Smith
Our rainbow playlist definitely lends itself to some random music selections—but that’s what makes it fun! If our last track got you moving, this BLACK track will just keep you going, thanks to everyone’s favorite alien-tracking secret government agent, Agent J.

Beats per Minute: 108
Pace: 18:31
Steps: 405
5) “True Blue” – Madonna
Up next: a little more BLUE with this ‘80s hit—back from the days when Madonna was still a mostly sweet and innocent pop star.
Beats per Minute: 118
Pace: 16:57
Steps: 505
6) “Orange Crush” – R.E.M.
As it turns out, colors in song titles tend to be pretty limited: a whole lot of black and blue, along with the occasional red and green. And so many colorful songs just don’t work with our walking pace. So, while I was putting this list together, it was exciting to find any workout-worthy tracks featuring other colors of the rainbow. And the fact that it’s classic R.E.M. doesn’t hurt, either.
Beats per Minute: 121
Pace: 16:32
Steps: 468
7) “Little Red Corvette” – Prince
Prince is an artist who knew how to sing about color—and not just blue and black—from “Raspberry Beret” to “Purple Rain” to this RED track. So no rainbow playlist would be complete without at least one of his colorful tracks.
Beats per Minute: 123
Pace: 16:16
Steps: 623
8) “Out of the Blue” – Debbie Gibson
In case you haven’t noticed, BLUE is a pretty easy color to find in song titles—and we’re adding just one more blue track to our playlist with this fun, poppy hit from lovable ‘80s teen sensation Debbie Gibson.
Beats per Minute: 126
Pace: 15:52
Steps: 489
9) “A Red Letter Day” – Pet Shop Boys
We’re keeping up the pop vibes with this RED track from the Pet Shop Boys. We’re definitely moving at a brisk pace at this point in our walk—but you’ve got just a few more tracks left. Hang in there!
Beats per Minute: 126
Pace: 15:52
Steps: 552
10) “Pretty in Pink” – The Psychadelic Furs
This next PINK track is a great song from a classic ‘80s movie! The pace is fast—but you’ve got this!
Beats per Minute: 136
Pace: 14:42
Steps: 539
11) “White Wedding” – Billy Idol
You’ve made it to our fastest song—this classic WHITE track from Billy Idol. You’ve got just a few more minutes until we slow it down!
Beats per Minute: 147
Pace: 13:36
Steps: 617
12) “Purple Hat” – Sofie Tukker
Hey! You’ve made it to our cool-down track! We’re closing out with a song that might not be as familiar—but it’s a fun PURPLE track, so I wanted to make sure I threw in a little color variety before finishing up our rainbow walk.
Beats per Minute: 94
Pace: 21:17
Steps: 233
Total Time for Today’s Workout: 47:44
Total Steps: 5,565
And with that, we’ve come to the end of today’s rainbow walk! I hope you’ve had a whole lot of fun walking your way through (most of) the colors of the rainbow! Did you wear today’s color—or see something in today’s color during your walk? Share a picture of today’s rainbow fun (and be sure to tag Will Walk for Coffee)!
If you’ve been keeping up with the beat, you’ve just gotten over 5,500 steps (or around 2.75 miles). Way to get those steps in! If you’re feeling like getting more steps, feel free to hit play again and keep going!
