When the temperatures start to cool, I find that it’s easier to forget about hydration. I’m not sweating as much after a long walk, so I don’t feel the need to guzzle gallons of water or reach for my favorite hydration mix. And with the craziness of my daily schedule, I often find myself reaching for coffee instead of water. And then, when I end up with a headache at the end of the day, I scold myself for forgetting to hydrate. So when I saw an ad for FitAid Hydrate, it seemed like my body was trying to tell me something.
To start, I picked up the trial pack, which comes with both flavors: Pink Himalayan Lemonade and Watermelon Wave. I started with Pink Himalayan Lemonade—and while I found it to have a nice, light fruit flavor, I still ended up diluting it (as always) to make it even lighter. That also helped to cut down on the saltiness—which, while not as strong as others I’ve tried, still made it feel a little heavy. Still, the flavor feels refreshingly natural—and, despite being sugar-free, it doesn’t have a terrible aftertaste.
I definitely appreciate the electrolyte content of this brand—up to twice as much potassium and magnesium as others. The electrolyte levels are definitely welcome after a steamy summer walk—but those vitamins and minerals are important year-round, to keep your body balanced. They can also prevent cramping after a nice, long walk (and keep you from waking up at night, wondering why your legs hurt).
If you’re looking for a more natural hydration mix to help you replenish after walking, FitAid isn’t the cheapest option, but it offers some a great mix of electrolytes for the price.
