Question of the Day: Virtual Races

Last week (in this feature), we explored the pros and cons (but mostly the pros) of walking a race. I mentioned that signing up for a virtual race is a great place to start. If you want to get a feel for a 5k race – but you’re not sure you’re ready to tackle one in person – it’ll help you build up a little confidence (and you’ll get some fun swag in the process).

Have you ever tried a virtual race? Do you have a favorite?

I think my favorite is still my very first. During the most locked-down part of the pandemic, I signed up for the Fiji virtual race from Virtual Run Events with a couple of friends, and we all did the race in our own neighborhoods (or, in my case, on the treadmill) on the same day. It was so much fun – and it started my race addiction.

Kristin has been hitting the trail (or the treadmill) for a walk almost every day for the past several years, and she recently completed her first half marathon. She loves sunny fall days, cushy walking shoes, and coconut caramel iced coffee from Dunkin.
