So let’s talk socks. I’ll admit that I never used to pay much attention to the socks I wore while walking. The only thing I really noticed was whether the tab came up high enough in the back to prevent my shoes from rubbing on my skin and making the backs of my ankles bleed. I would go to Five Below and pick up big ol’ packages of their workout socks—and, honestly, I still wear them for a lot of my everyday walks because they’re surprisingly good socks. They’re also cheap, which is a big plus for me.
But then I got my first pair of Balega UltraGlides. You guys. Wow. They’re soft instead of stiff—which can sometimes be the case with some higher-end socks. And while they’re not as thin as some other athletic socks, that’s just because they’re cushioned in alllllll the right places. These socks feel soft and light and strangely luxurious, and they just make my feet happy. They’re so comfortable that just putting them on makes me smile. So while I still often wear those Five Below workout socks, these are the ones I reach for on race days—or when I just need a little extra comfort. If you want to make your feet happy, I highly recommend pairing some bright, colorful UltraGlides with your favorite walking shoes.
